JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: CoS Senior Care & Support Worker
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: From £10.42p.h plus enhancements
Contract Term: 80hrs Fortnightly
Responsible to: Management Team

Purpose of the Role

To provide practical and individualised care and support to individuals whom may have a learning difficult, a  mental health condition, a physical disability or a sensory impairment. We recognise the term mental health covers a number of conditions; to name a few this could include an individual who has a personality disorder, the autistic spectrum or someone suffering from a depressive illness.

Here at Epiphany in Care our aim is to improve the quality of life of our Clients by enabling them to maintain their independence, promote their ability to make informed choices and to support and encourage individuals to enjoy their life and to play an active part in their communities.

 

Main duties and responsibilities

The level of care and support required by our Clients will be dependent on their individual’s needs and abilities. It is important for support staff not to create dependency services this is done by promoting independence choice and control.

Your role will require you to be good at planning activities in our Clients homes and whilst out in the community. Some of our Clients may require 24-hour care and support and therefore dependant on the terms of your contract you will be expected to do sleep-in or wake-in nights. Dependant on the service being provided you will be expected to offer support if called upon at night or maybe provide emotional support as part of a wake night service.

Some of your duties may include supporting individuals providing sensitive services such as personal care, morning, and night routines. You will also support individual with all aspects of running their own home. This may include offering support around the individuals’ finances, budgeting, meal planning and preparation and light domestic duties. Whilst accessing the community you will support individuals with their shopping, accessing recreational and social activities, to engage in educational and training opportunities as well as attending important appointments.

 

Our expectations of you?

To be considered for this role you must already living in the U.K. and are eligible to apply for the skilled Worker visa sponsorship.  You must be willing to relocate to Bristol, We expect our Care and Support Workers to be of a caring and friendly nature. They should be good at motivating others whilst being supportive. We expect you to be compassionate and empathetic which must be a natural approach during visits.  you should have good social skills have the ability to read both verbal and non verbal cues. Being able to converse with our clients in a human, non-robotic way. through excellent interpersonal skills and communication. It can also be beneficial to encourage the use of humour when building rapport, and reassuring clients who may be struggling with self-esteem and confidence.

We also expect you to be willing to build positive relationships with our clients their families, your colleagues and other professionals you may come into contact with. you should also have an understanding of partnership working and the benefits of working in this way. Be able to work alone and as part of a dispersed team.

 

Notes

This role requires the post holder to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service checks (DBS). They must be a driver and be able to use their car for work purposes. The must be already living in the U.K. and are eligible to apply for the skilled Worker visa sponsorship.  You must be willing to relocate to Bristol.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

ESSENTIAL

Basic English & Maths skills (as a minimum (Level B1CEFRS scale/ ILETS 0r SELT equivalent)

No experience required full training will be given

Ability to use a smart mobile phone

Basic IT skills - Word processing, internet, email

Understanding of the need for confidentiality

Good communication skills both written and spoken in English

Work on own initiative

A good decision maker

Demonstrable ability to motivate and empower others

DESIRABLE

Completed care Certificate

 QCF award in Health & Social Care or Mental Health

 ILETS or SELT level 6

At least 1 years’ experience of working with vulnerable adults in a social care setting

working in partnership with service users and their families

knowledge and demonstration of the importance of confidentiality

Experience of lone working
